Before your Distinct Elegance experience,
here are the answers to some questions you may have.


How far in advance should I start shopping for my gown?

We usually recommend shopping 12 months in advance. Our wedding gowns take at least 4-6 months for delivery. We also recommend that you order your gown no later than 8 months before your wedding, so you can have it ready to wear at least 2 months prior to your wedding date. This allows ample time for alterations and bridal portraits. If you don’t have 8 months to order, some of our gowns are available for Rush order at additional cost; we also sell gowns off the rack.

Are appointments required for trying on wedding gowns?

In order to give you the attention you deserve and assure you a private dressing room, we do require that you make an appointment; however, there is no added charge for the consultation. This is an exciting time, and we want you to enjoy the process. Our boutique is quite intimate, so dressing rooms book quickly. Walk-ins are assisted; however, if a dressing room is not available, we will need to schedule an appointment to view and try on our gowns. We allow one hour per appointment and do not have a limit as to how many gowns you may try on, as long as the appointment is kept within one hour. Most importantly, when you make an appointment and your plans change, please give us a courtesy phone call to let us know not to expect you, or if you need to re-schedule.

What Should I bring to my appointment?

  • Bring pictures of wedding gowns you like to show your Stylist
  • Our personal service includes helping you put on the wedding gowns as they are heavy and hard to manage; so, please wear proper undergarments. Bring a strapless bra, if you have one. 
  • Because we have an intimate environment and want your guests to be seated comfortably, you may bring up to 3-4 guests whose opinions you value and who will support you.
  • No high heels are necessary as all the gowns come standard length and you would need to be 6’ tall with shoes for the gown to touch the floor.  We have platforms for you to stand on so you can see what the gown will look like full length.

Do you have alteration services?

One of the benefits of our personal service is the care taken in getting precise measurements for each bride; we will do everything in our power to protect our brides from overpaying for alterations that could have been avoided. Knowing how critically important it is for a bride to have her gown fitted properly, we have chosen not to profit from alterations, instead partnering with highly qualified tailors who specialize in wedding gown alterations. We happily refer you to these professionals. 

Are children allowed at my appointment?

While we love children, we strongly advise you not to bring children to a bridal store. A child’s safety is our highest priority, and our boutique is simply not intended for children. Choosing your wedding gown is the most important decision you will make for your wedding. You need to be able to focus and concentrate without distractions.

Can I take pictures of the gowns?

Designers copyright all of their gowns; therefore, our policy does not allow photos to be taken during your appointment time. However, at the time of purchase, we will celebrate with you and take photos of you in your gown and with your friends and family!

How much time should I allow for ordering bridesmaids’ dresses?

We recommend you order your bridesmaids’ dresses at least 5 months before the wedding in order to allow for timely delivery and alterations, if needed. Our bridesmaids’ dresses normally take 3 full months for delivery.
